Los Angeles Trip Home (Visit)!

Hey everyone! I can't believe it's already been a week and definitely one of the best weeks I've had in a while. We got to fly home to California, visit friends, and run around crazily trying to get in appointments, shopping, and all the necessities. There was definitely a fair amount of shopping done but I figured I would save that for next week's post and instead just share with you about my week here in California.

First off, it has been SO warm! For example, in the mid 80's (and for my European friends around 28 degrees Celsius). That has been really nice because it was snowing in Switzerland when we left so it felt like a little summer break coming out here and soaking in some sunshine. Sadly, I didn't have too much time to lay out and just tan/relax because of our crazy agenda but I tried to make some time for that too.

Sunday
Anyways, before we get into all the details I will take you through how the adventure started and go from there. We left Zurich at around 4:30 (with a delay making it more like 5:15) and flew for 12 hours-yuck. It was a brutal flight because once you arrive in LAX it's actually 2 AM Swiss time so your body is just all confused and feeling gross after such a long flight. However, my carry-on essentials made the flight much easier ;) Once we landed, drove to our house and settled in I went back out again to meet with my friend Annie at our favorite place ever: Target! It was so great meeting up with one of my best friends again and enjoying the limitless supply of everything at Target.

American food? Yes please!!
As you can tell pictures were hard to take since we were basically laughing in all of them!

Monday
Today started off bright and early with an eye doctor where I got a basic check-up and attempted contacts but after 45 minutes and bright red eyes I decided to give it a couple days and come back fresh on Wednesday. Then, I headed over to an outdoor mall with my dad and sister. I purchased a few things from PINK and then headed over to Tilly's to pick up some stuff. For lunch we went to Corner Bakery where I had a turkey, avocado, bacon, and lettuce sandwich sitting out in the sun and enjoying spending some time with one another. After another Target shop and organizing some stuff in my room at home I got to attend a master jazz funk class at my old dance studio (Simi Dance Center). It felt amazing being back at the studio and finally taking a dance class in English rather than German! It was taught by a great teacher from LA-Galen Hooks and we learned a fun and sassy combo to Meghan Trainor.

Tuesday
On Tuesday I had a more relaxing day, taking some pool pictures with our backyard and enjoying the sunshine. I also went over to Sprinkles-the first cupcake shop that was opened in LA and it was so yummy. As you can tell food was a highlight but also made me feel so stuffed by the end of the week and now I am ready for fruits, veggies, and no junk for a while :p

My swimsuit is from PINK, Victoria's Secret.

Wednesday
Moving on to Wednesday with another packed full day ahead! It started at the orthodontist with a check-up of braces and my last baby tooth (...I know.. my teeth come out slowly) which had the adult tooth growing in behind it. All of a sudden, I was sent over to the dentist next door and got my tooth removed! Pretty crazy, and then whilst still holding a bloody cotton pad in my mouth I had to practice putting on my contacts again. Luckily I got them in quickly and now finally have contacts! It's been really nice to have them, and be able to..well...see things? A quick stop at Jamba and then we came home for a while since my mouth was in a bit of pain. Next, we went over to the larger mall near our house and shopped for about an hour. Some store highlights were Urban Outfitters and Pac Sun where I purchased the most at. Then, we drove over to Calabasas to visit my second cousin's apartment that she moved into. It was great talking to her and seeing her new place. Finally, I ended the night with another dance class at my studio.

Thursday
The main highlight of my day today was getting together with my friend Annie to eat lunch and go shopping (again!). We ate at a restaurant called Stacked where you order on iPads at your table which is pretty unique. After some American hamburgers and a strawberry/banana milkshake we walked around the mall for a while. I ended my night with dancing-the perfect way to end the day.

Friday
In the afternoon my mom, sister and I went and got mani pedis. I got a light pink polish on my toes with a flower design and a french tip for my manicure! It felt so relaxing and nice to finally sit down and feel pampered :D. On Friday evening I met up with some more friends and we went to Red's Barbecue followed by frozen yogurt for dessert! It was so great catching up with old friends and basically talking about the past two years since that's how long I hadn't seen them for. I had so much fun hanging out with them and reuniting.

My dress is from Urban, shoes from Steve Madden, and jean shirt around my waist from Macy's.

Saturday
Happy Valentine's Day! In the morning we had yummy donuts and got a little Valentine's Day gift from my parents. Today was the final Target shop to get any final beauty products and necessities from the U.S. We also had a delicious and light lunch at Urbane Cafe. Then, in the afternoon I helped my dad in the backyard doing some work and mapping out the sprinkler system-haha! In the evening we went out for an Indian meal and then I watched some Pretty Little Liars whilst eating ice cream since (#single).

Sunday
And now it's Sunday and we are leaving later tonight :(( However, I met up with my friend Hailee for a breakfast and got to catch up before I left which was really enjoyable! Then, I packed up and organized my room throwing away some old things from a couple years ago. I also soaked up the rays one last time outside and enjoyed the last couple hours here.

I had such an amazing week and I am so sad to be leaving! Thank you to everyone that made this week memorable and getting to reunite with friends and enjoy hanging out in the place that I've grown up in my whole life. Look forward to next week's post and see what I purchased while over here in LA.

Carry-on Essentials (for traveling)!

Hey everyone! You might be wondering why I'm posting on a Saturday rather than a Sunday...well, it's because tomorrow (Sunday) I will be on an airplane all day! Where am I going? Back to California where I used to live! I am finally visiting LA after a year and a bit and I couldn't be more excited. Sadly, it's only for a week but it's better than nothing. Since the flight from Zurich to Los Angeles is over 12 hours (ugh) I decided to share with you some carry-on essentials that I find help me get through long flights. Of course I also pick up some essentials at the airport-magazines, snacks, and water-but this is just what I bring from home.

The first items are all relating towards entertainment! Probably one of the most important things for long-haul flights. The portable charger (top center) is so convenient for flights especially because you can charge your phone on the airplane which is very useful. Another important one for me are headphones because I don't really like the ones they hand out on planes and so use my Beats or normal earbuds for watching movies and listening to my Spotify playlists.

Next is refreshments, in other words items that will help make you feel slightly less gross than you already do feel whilst being thousands of feet up in the air. AKA for in-air dryness and health purposes. Hand cream is great for using when your skin feels dry or is cracking. It also instantly makes me feel more refreshed and revitalized. Another essential is EOS, I could not live without EOS and my lips get super chapped on airplanes so this comes in handy a lot while traveling. Hand sanitizer is also great for before and after airplane meals and just to use when you feel a bit 'un-clean' in the airport or plane.

Lastly, is comfort items or just extra necessities. I have never tried this one before but was watching Zoella's travel video yesterday and found that she thinks bringing fuzzy socks to wear on planes is really comfortable and one of her essentials. So, I decided to give it a try and I think it will make me much comfier because I tend to get pretty cold on flights and fuzzy socks are always great. Mints (in this case Altoids) are also a major must for my carry-on because when I have flights throughout the night I wake up and my mouth has a weird taste to it and of course mints also keep away any 'post sleeping' bad breath.

Anyways, I hope you found this post useful and hopefully consider bringing some of these items on your next travel adventure! Stay tuned for next week's post and maybe some other random vlogging style picture posts in LA. Thank you for viewing as always, xxx

January Favorites!

Hey everyone and Happy February! February is one of my favorite months, not only because of Valentine's day AND my birthday but because it is (usually) the last month before it begins to turn into spring. Since January is now over I finally decided to do a January Favorites post! I've been wanting to do another one for so long now but either timing hasn't been right or I've had no exciting favorites. So, since it is the first month of the new year I figured it would be the perfect time to share some of my favorites so far. They are mainly fashion and beauty products with one random favorite at the end ;) So, let's get into this month's favorites of mine...

Beauty Products

My first beauty favorite of January is the 'fierce, no fear' nail polish from Essie. It looks slightly brown on camera but it is more of a dark color that's pretty hard to explain. I think this polish looks so trendy and is something bold and unique that I normally wouldn't go for. I also love Essie nail polish and it always lasts a really long time for me which is great because usually my nails start chipping one day in after getting them painted.

To go along with the first item is this nail polish remover that I found at Forever 21. You basically dip your finger into foam coated with nail polish remover, twist a couple times, and your polish is removed! So much easier than using tons of cotton balls and scrubbing for ages until it finally peels off. It's also really handy for traveling since it's all just inside this one tiny package.

The last beauty favorite of mine is this eyebrow gel from Arbonne. Lately, my brows have been sticking out a bit on the ends and this gel just smooths it out and keeps all your eyebrow hairs together to make sure that you're eyebrows are "ON FLEEK". It's also really light and doesn't feel too heavy or sticky on your brows.

Fashion Statements

My first fashion favorite I have literally been wearing all month long! It is this black, fuzzy cardigan from Hollister. It is SO soft and since fur is totally in right now it's been a great addition to my closet. Another plus is that it actually keeps me super warm on those warmer winter days so I don't have to always wear a huge winter jacket on-top, because let's face it having to pull on bulky winter jackets just sometimes ruins your outfit and makes you less fashionable of course.

Next, is a pair of slip-on shoes from Steve Madden that has also been a major staple in my outfits lately. At first I wasn't going to get these because I thought it would be really hard to wear with things since they are so busy and unique. However, I have found countless ways to wear them with simple outfits and they're also very comfortable and surprisingly warm for the winter months. I also think they are a bold statement to jazz up your dull outfits and help you step outside the box in your fashion.

Accessories are Key

For accessories, I have been loving this gold necklace from Forever 21. It says 'statement necklace' and catches people's eye but without having to wear a big, heavy necklace. I like it because it is simple and the perfect amount of boldness; because sometimes those thick statement necklaces just drown out your outfit!

Randoms

My last monthly favorite is very random indeed but they are stickers..? I have been collecting adorable stickers and putting them on the back of my laptop to add a bit of a personal touch to my Macbook. They are mainly from Wildflower and Brandy because they just come free with purchases and overall I just thought they were really cute and made my laptop stand out.

I hope you enjoyed this January Favorites post and maybe even try some of these products in the month of February. Thank you for viewing (+ following) and I will see you all next Sunday for another Eat Sweat Style blog post xxx
