10 Fall Fashion DO's and DON'Ts!

Hey everyone! Today I am posting something a little different than I've done before and I think it will be really fun and interesting! It is a play on Fashion DO's and DON'Ts that you may recognize in fashion magazines or articles online. I am putting a twist on this and making it for fall since it is now fall season! Fall is my favorite season for fashion because I love dressing for cozy weather that is not too hot or cold + of course the warm color scheme of fall time. So, you can expect to see many fashion-related posts on this blog during the fall season. Overall, I really hope you find this post unique and that it gives you some fall inspo when you are putting together outfits and also reminds of the trends you should NOT follow ;)

  1. DO: Invest in hats! Hats are an essential staple item for fall and are perfect for those days when your hair is NOT your friend. This summer fedoras and bowler hats were in and I think this year for fall beanies are going to be so stylish and trendy and can be worn in SO many ways.

  2. DON'T: Pair your UGGS with shorts...okay so this is an absolute MUST for me and I cringe every time I see someone wearing this atrocious combination. Now, usually it occurs somewhere that is mildly warm all year round so girls have to wear shorts but are trying to pretend its winter at the same. Please don't fall into this trap! Another point on UGGS: they were made as you see them not to be bent/folded down so everyone can see the inside of your shoe.

  3. DO: Go for the comfortable/casual 'cliché fall' look once in a while. I'm not saying to always ditch a nice, put-together look; however, I think in the fall laid-back looks that seem like you didn't try too hard are a must. For example, a sweater with leggings, booties, and accessorizing the look with scarfs or hats is the way to go during fall this season.

  4. DON'T: Forget to match your boots with your lifestyle that day/the rest of your look. For instance, pairing classic riding boots with a crop top, cardigan, and skirt with tights under is one disastrous look that will CLASH all over! 🙈

  5. DO: Layer. Fall is the perfect time of the year to layer your clothes because the weather can be unpredictable. Rather than wearing one, thick sweater...layer your outfit with multiples such as pulling on a long-sleeved shirt over a shirt with a cute tank peeking out underneath. I think a great use of layering for a more 'school-girl'/proper look is wearing a collared shirt underneath sweaters. Only certain people can pull this look off and when they do I think it looks great!

  6. DON'T: Stash away those summer whites just yet. Pair your favorite pair of white jeans with fall/wintery tops and sweaters for a bright-eyed, cozy look!

    7. DO: Show off plaids and classic pleated skirts! Lately, plaid has been making its return in the fashion world when worn properly! I think plaid skirts can come off super cute and playful while still looking very put-together. So if you don't have a go-to plaid item in your closet make sure you get one for this fall season.

    8. DON'T:  Think that tights are/can be pulled off as pants. This is an important one because it's a huge eye sore when you see people walking around wearing tights as their pants...like what? Tights are great for cold weather so you can still wear your favorite skirts/dresses but please DO NOT wear them alone!!

    9. DO: Store the flip-flops and sandals. It's time to move on from your summertime sadness, cover your feet, and bring out the sneakers and boots. This tip goes with outfit clashing and being stuck between two seasons so to make it easy for you, just put the sandals away until springtime :)

    10. DON'T: Pair denim with denim. No matter how much people want to embrace their western roots, it's the 21st century! So please no more denim jeans with denim shirts and denim jackets..EW! Now sometimes this can be done right and can look cute but most of the time it can't; so I wouldn't attempt this interesting combination. Instead, go for a silky or lace top with denim jeans and booties to mix textiles and fabrics for a more diverse look that doesn't blend together.

I just wanted to remind you all in case i haven't made it clear...my posting day will be Sunday! Recently I've been kinda posting randomly and found that Sunday works best for my busy schedule. I think this is good to know because now you know when you should be checking here for a post and I promise I will always try to post and if I can't I'll let you know in advance. Thanks for viewing this post and gaining some fall fashion tips and reminders for this trendy season <3

Loaded M&M Oreo Cookie Bars!

CAUTION: These cookies are addictive! PS if you're looking for a healthy cookie recipe I would maybe stop reading on...

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a great recipe perfect for back-to-school and the upcoming fall season! These taste amazing after a long day of school or studying and are also ideal for the fall with its warm, gooey flavors. Like I said above, these are obviously not the healthiest dessert you can have but sometimes we need a little splurge right? Pre-warning: These do not look like cookies when you are making them and the batter seems quite runny; however TRUST ME once the Oreos are added the batter thickens up and tastes just like a cookie! I would advise you to follow this recipe because if you make a normal cookie recipe + Oreos you're batter will be very thick and dry! Lastly, this recipe is taken from Pinterest, here are some images below of the original pictures!

Sound good? Recipe below!

Yields: one 8x8 pan; 9-12 generous squares

Prep time: 5 minutes; Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (113 grams)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 18 oreo cookies: coarsely chopped

  • 1/2 cup of M&m's

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, spray with cooking spray; set aside.
  2. In a large, microwave-safe bowl melt the butter, about 1 minute on high power.
  3. Wait momentarily before adding the egg so you don't scramble it! Then, add the egg, brown sugar & vanilla and whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the flour and stir until just combined-don't overmix.
  5. Stir in the Oreos.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan, lightly smoothing over the top and sides with a spatula.
  7. Evenly sprinkle the M&Ms over the top, slightly pressing them down with your finger or a fork.
  8. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until top is set and edges are slightly firm. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean, or with a few moist crumbs, but no batter. Allow bars to cool in pan for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Baking Tip! Take out your baked good a few minutes before you think it's done cooking. This will help prevent overcooking/drying out your treat because it still bakes on the pan AFTER it comes out of the oven!! Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this short and sweet post and let me now if you make these any time! Thank you so much for viewing Eat Sweat Style and stay tuned for a fashion post next week! 💛

Quick & Healthy School Breakfast Ideas!

Hey everyone! So today I am going to be sharing with you 5 quick and healthy breakfast ideas for each day of the week! All of them include lots of fruit and tons of protein to kickstart your day and keep you full and energized until break time (or lunch). Overall, they can be made within 20 minutes or less so are perfect for when you don't have too much time; especially the Friday breakfast (takes 5 minutes at the most)! Well, I hope you guys enjoy this post and that it gives you some inspiration/ideas for healthier and more filling breakfasts during school! Remember-breakfast is the most important meal of the day ;) Monday: Berry Yogurt Parfait Tuesday: Oatmeal Wednesday: Eggs & Toast Thursday: 4-ingredient pancakes Friday: Peanut-butter banana time

Berry Yogurt Parfait

Steps:

And there you have it! A quick and delicious fruit meal that is perfect for any school day! It seems pretty light; however, fills you up greatly with all the fruits and granola. I personally dislike raisins so my granola comes without but you can use any kind you enjoy!

Creamy oatmeal with fresh fruit

So since I am usually in a rush in the morning I like to use this Trader Joes Oatmeal Complete oatmeal packets! They are super beneficial and good for you filling you with tons of fiber and vitamins. It's also a 2-step process and tastes just like oatmeal, if not better because it's also flavored w/maple & brown sugar which adds just the right amount of sweetness. The problem with regular oatmeal for me is sometimes it doesn't taste sweet enough so I have to add extra sugar which is much more unhealthy!

Pour packet of oats into a shallow bowl...

Add in the water & stir

Next, you are going to microwave on high anywhere between 1 and 2 minutes. I do mine at around 1:40 but it will just depend on your microwave. You basically want to microwave it until the consistency is thick & water has evaporated.

While the oatmeal is cooking I like to chop one banana into half-sized pieces and place in a bowl for toppings. I also take out some blueberries and wash them.

For a drink I decided to have some of this 'Apple and Berry Innocent Juice' which includes lots of healthy vitamins!

Then, for my toppings I have:

Lastly the assembling and enjoying (of course checking Instagram too)

Eggs & Toast

So recently our grocery stores have stopped selling English muffins...so I usually make this meal on an english muffin but since we didn't have any, I had to improvise! You can also add avocado or eliminate the cheese for a more healthy option! I just like to keep my meals balanced and nutritious not TOO crazily worried about the health content :)

To make the eggs you will need either 1 or 2 eggs and some half and half creme (or just plain milk). I don't measure the creme- I just simply throw in a dash of what looks right-you can't really mess it up. I then beat these ingredients together with a fork.

While the sprayed pan is heating up I like to quickly chop my strawberries as an extra side, put my toast down in the toaster since the eggs cook super quickly, and also grate some cheddar cheese which I will later sprinkle on the top for flavor! You can cook the eggs in either a pot or pan; however I like to use a pan for a quicker version.

Once the eggs are cooked you can lightly coat bread with some butter for moisture, plop your eggs on top, sprinkle some cheese and you're ready to go! Oh and I also like to have a yogurt (in this case blueberry flavor) on the side!

4-Ingredient Healthy Pancakes!

Yes you heard me right...HEALTHY pancakes! And these aren't some gross, grainy-tasting healthy pancakes; these are super yummy and taste just like normal pancakes! I know everyone says that about healthy food to get people to eat it but I really do mean it when I say that. And they are only four ingredients so can be whipped up in no time. Plus, you don't even have to spend time mushing a banana to pieces because the blender will do it all!

With these ingredients you are going to add them all into the blender and beat until fully combined, but not too much so it doesn't become frothy!

After that...

This is the final product! So so tasty! I also added some low-sugar syrup and blueberries to taste. Finally, for a drink I decided on a small glass of orange juice for some calcium :)

Peanut-Butter Banana Time!

This final meal I think everyone knows of...the classic peanut butter and banana toast with a drizzle of honey on the top. This breakfast (or lunch) idea is the classic, in-a-hurry breakfast filled with tons of protein to keep you lasting and awake for the whole day. So here are some pictures of me making this simple and delicious breakfast! I also paired it with a strawberry yogurt as another little side dish.

Thank you so much for reading through and viewing this post! I hope you took away some amazingly tasty breakfasts that will make you feel a lot more satisfied and prevent needless snacking throughout the day than Pop-tarts, donuts, or the worst of them all-NOTHING! Always eat breakfast even if your not full because trust me it will kick-start your metabolism for the day which is key if you want to be feeling and looking healthy! Thanks again and stay tuned for my next blog post next week <3
