Cancun, Mexico || Spring Break 2016!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the absence of posts these past couple of months, but this past week I was in Cancun, Mexico for spring break and had such an amazing time! I was with my family and we stayed on the island for a week, and naturally I took thousands of photos exploring Mexico that I am going to be showing you today. If you're looking for a warm, tropical, friendly, and down to earth place to visit I would highly recommend going to Cancun as it was one of the best vacations I've been on.

The first couple of days in Cancun my family and I took some well-deserved relaxation and tanning by the beach and pools at our hotel. Then, our first big activity we went on was exploring 4 different Cenotes on the Yucatan Peninsula. Cenotes are natural pools of water located near ancient Mayan villages and some are enclosed in caves, whereas others are open. The first cenote we visited was enclosed and we rappelled down into the blue water and swam around. Next, we visited an open cenote and went zip lining into the water which was one of my favorite activities. Thirdly, we went to another spectacular natural pool of water and went snorkeling into the depths of the cave and finished off with kayaking down a lazy river. At our final cenote we went down waterslides, zip lined, went cliff jumping, and swam around the beautiful pools and amazing scenery. This was one of my favorite parts of the vacation and it was so cool exploring Mayan culture and swimming/doing activities in these beautiful pools.

The day after this fun activity, we relaxed at the beach for most of the day. However, in the late afternoon my sister and I went parasailing! It was so cool and so much fun to try a new sport and get to see the beautiful views of Cancun. If you didn't already know, the water in Cancun is so blue and clear so getting to see the crystal-clear ocean from so high up was a great experience. It was a bit scary at times when the wind picked up and you could feel yourself blowing like a balloon in the air but overall it was something I will never forget!

The following day was our one, big sightseeing day where we visited one of the seven new wonders of the world: Chichen Itza! Chichen Itza was a two hour drive from our hotel so we rented a private driver and set off. It was such a cool place with so much ancient Mayan history and culture. Then, we visited another Cenote known as Ik Kil which is a very popular Cenote seen on twitter and many other social medias. It was very beautiful and we jumped off the cliff and swam inside. The last stop for the day was at Ek Balm which was similar to Chichen Itza except we got to climb up the steep steps to the top overlooking the rest of the ruins and grassland.

For our final day we took a ferry out to Isla Mujeres which is an island on the other side of the ocean from Cancun. Once in Isla Mujeres, we rented a golf cart to drive around the city in, which is the popular thing to do there. The golf cart was so much fun and we drove it from one end of the island to the other, seeing cliffs, sculptures, colorful Mexican houses, and finally relaxing on the white sand beaches and swimming in the clear water with no waves. We also visited a turtle farm where we got to see a bunch of different sea turtles and even a shark.

Cancun was the best spring break I could've asked for and such an amazing place to be in and explore. I hope you all enjoyed looking at these photos and hopefully it inspired you to spontaneously purchase a one-way ticket to Mexico! Till next time xx
