New Years Inspiration 2016!

Hey everyone and Happy New Year! At the start of each new year everyone decides to make a change and make the following year 'the best one yet'. We make commitments and resolutions but a goal without a plan is just a dream and without inspiration and something to urge us to plan out how exactly we want to achieve our resolutions we will end up exactly where we were last new years.  Also, a tip is to only make 1 or 2 main goals for 2016 that can be achieved with hard work, instead of making a bunch that will never happen. Anyways, today I am going to be sharing with you a bunch of pictures from Weheartit to inspire you and encourage everyone to make a goal and stick to it because 2016 can only be great if we make it great.

Hope you enjoyed this post and wish you all a happy and healthy new year! 2016 you will be our year to never forget. xx

Exam Study Snacks!

Hey everyone! As most of you are probably on summer - I hope you're enjoying your break. However, my school still has a couple more weeks and our exams are coming up quickly so I decided to share with you some healthy snack ideas that are great for studying in general. If you're already on summer, then these snacks are also a quick, healthy snack that you can have anytime of the day. In addition, all of these snacks take under 10 minutes to make to save you time in your studying.

Peanut-butter, banana, chocolate toast
The first snack is one of the most well-rounded and probably the most beneficial for studying. It contains peanut butter to give you protein, banana for potassium, and dark chocolate for an energy boost and a healthy brain to keep you going. Overall, it's the perfect snack for studying because it keeps you full and provides you with enough nutrients to give you an energy boost for revising.

In this snack, you need to make some wheat toast, spread on peanut butter and sliced banana and then top with dark chocolate chips.

Popcorn
Next, is a pretty basic snack but I think popcorn is such a great substitution for chips! You can add extra toppings such as parmesan or salt on top but stay away from adding any extra butter because it will turn this light snack into more of a movie treat.

Berry fruit bowl
Finally, I have a berry fruit bowl - you can also add some yogurt on top to make it a more filling snack. Berries are proven to be great for memorizing and improving your learning capacity. They also contain tons of antioxidants and are ranked as a 'super food'. All you need for this snack is any berries of your choice and some optional yogurt or granola, however I think just sticking to a huge bowl of fruit is your best option.

I hope you enjoyed these exam study snacks and either use them for studying or just for a refreshing summer snack. Thanks for viewing, and remember all my social media is in the sidebar along with tons of other gadgets you can use such as following my blog. See you next week, xxx

The Perfect + Healthy Breakfast // Overnight Oats 3 Ways!

Hey everyone! We've had a very rainy start to May here in Switzerland but hopefully sunshine is upon us. I haven't done a food / recipe post on my blog for a while so I thought what better way to start off the month of May then with a breakfast post for mornings when you're in a hurry. If you're anything like me, once May comes rolling around my enthusiasm for school and learning is at its lowest and I am constantly checking how many days until summer. Therefore, I have three delicious and healthy breakfast variations for one of my favorites - overnight oats!

Overnight oats are made the night before (to save you a ton of time preparing breakfast in the morning), are super filling, and really healthy to kickstart your day in the right direction. The three recipes I will be sharing with you are: Strawberry Banana Oats, Blueberry Infused Oats, and French Toast inspired Oats. This grab and go breakfast is sure to be a weekly staple in your refrigerator!

Blueberry-Infused Overnight Oats
The first recipe is a blueberry banana mixture - my two favorite fruits for oatmeal. I think the softness of the banana pairs so well with the slight crunch of the blueberries and the two flavors work great together. The creaminess of the milk and yogurt also add such a great texture and taste to make this breakfast one you will love.

French Toast Overnight Oats
Okay, let's be real about the next variation...when I heard the name it was slightly off-putting because I just couldn't imagine french toast tasting well with cold oatmeal?! However, I decided to give it a try because I love french toast and I love oatmeal. I have to say this is one of the sweetest recipes of the three but it's so tasty! Also, sometimes in the mornings after breakfast I crave something sweet and this had the perfect balance of natural sugars and fibers to give me that small sugar kick.

Strawberry Banana Oats
The last recipe I haven't tried yet (but am going to this week) but I chose to write about it because you can never go wrong with a strawberry-banana combo. The two fruits go hand in hand so I figured this must be a delicious recipe. It's packed with tons of protein, fiber and nutritious fruits to start your day on a high note.

I hope you all enjoyed this special breakfast post and if you're looking for more healthy breakfast ideas you can click on the link here: 5 Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Let me know if you try out any of these overnight oats recipes and thank you so so much for viewing my blog and supporting me xxx

Healthy Lunch Ideas!

Hey everyone! It is finally SUNNY here in Switzerland; which means that spring is officially springing (hopefully). After a long, gray winter blue sunny skies not only makes me so happy but it also encourages me to step away from the junk on rainy days and indulge in tons of fruit and healthier food. That is why I have for you 3 healthy lunch ideas. I think lunch is one of the hardest meals to find food for and I usually end up just snacking and then eating unhealthy in the late afternoon. However, I came up with three great meals; two are perfect to bring to school and one is better for a weekend lunch when you have more time! I hope you enjoy...

Lunch Idea #1: Turkey & Cheese
Usually a balanced lunch consists of some protein, fruit and an optional extra starch. This first lunch is exactly that and takes under 5 minutes to make.

Start with taking some slices of turkey and placing them in a bag or tupperware. Next, crumble up some feta cheese and throw it in with the turkey. At school you can either roll up your feta inside a turkey slice or just eat both separate!

Next, is an apple of course because 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' ;) They also taste really refreshing with the turkey and feta cheese on top of apples is amazing!

My extra carb/starch to keep me full the rest of the school day are these pretzel thins. Unlike the larger and thicker pretzels which contain a ton of fat, these are a thinned out version and much better for you!

Lunch Idea #2: Peanut Butter 'Bananza'
The next lunch is a classic and can also be used for a quick breakfast! Whole wheat bread topped with natural peanut butter and a sliced banana.

Once again another apple on the side, however this can be berries or any other preferred fruit or veggie!

Also, if you want some extra moisture cottage cheese is a great snack (if you like the consistency) and is super filling as well.

Lunch Idea #3: Quesadilla with a Twist
Lastly, is my quesadilla! I love making quesadillas on the weekend with a fruit smoothie after working out or going on a walk/run. However, I've always just used white tortillas and never added anything that special to it. This quesadilla with a twist is healthy, easy, and includes one of my new favorite fruits-avocado! Also, it is halved and on a wheat tortilla which is such a better and more nutritious option. TIP: Add some bell pepper or onion for more crunch and flavor!

If you are not sure how to make a quesadilla:
  1. For half a quesadilla...take out ONE wheat tortilla and lay flat on pan
  2. Add some cheese onto half of the tortilla
  3. Cook in oven until cheese is melted
  4. Add chicken pieces (and veggies such as pepper or onion)
  5. Cook until tortilla is crispy at the edges
  6. Cut open your avocado and add onto the top or side along with some salsa (optional)
