The BEST Oatmeal Cookie Recipe!

Hey everyone! So yesterday, I made one of the best oatmeal cookie recipes I have ever made. I'm also doing this 21 day thing where I can't have candy, cake, etc. So, I figured oatmeal is healthy...let's make a cookie which satisfies yet isn't overly junky and bad for you. It also tastes a-mazing with the perfect balance of crunchy oats and gooey batter! The pictures show chocolate chips but I also made some without chocolate for myself for a more clean version since it is the new year. It was also a super quick recipe and I had all the ingredients at home without even having to think about them! Anyways, without further a do let's get into the recipe.

Yields:
About 27 small cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) butter, unsalted
  • 1/2 cup packed, brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant/quick cook oats!!)
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup nuts or raisins (optional)

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180 C)
  2. Combine eggs, sugars, vanilla, and butter and beat with an electric mixer until creamed and well-combined
  3. Scrape down sides of bowl with spatula. Add the oats, flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and beat until just combined on low speed
  4. Add optional chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins and beat/mix until just combined
  5. Scoop out measured amount onto baking sheets
  6. Bake for around 10 minutes...even if the cookies still look gooey and glossy in the center take them out! They will set once out of the oven and it's very important that you don't over bake these cookies.
  7. Chill on pan or drying rack for at least 10 minutes and E N J O Y

They look pretty delicious right? And trust me they are not like your usual, dry oatmeal cookies over baked and with no flavor. I suggest you make these right now...yep, now and I promise you, you won't regret it! This recipe was taken from http://www.averiecooks.com/2014/11/the-best-oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies.html  and she has some amazing other recipes which you should go and check it out! Stay tuned next week for another post on Eat Sweat Style! xoxo

...Have you made the cookies yet??

Fitness Inspiration for 2015!

Hey everyone! So, for today's post I figured most people's resolutions for 2015 are to either: get fit, stay healthy, or incorporate more activities into their schedule! For me, I simply want to just stay healthy and fit by doing a variety of sports and fitness. After the month or so of excitement that it is finally a new year and new chance for you to start over-the desire begins to fade. Workouts are becoming less frequent and you're already trying to convince yourself that you'll start the following Monday and so on. This trap gets repeated until its another new year and you're still not satisfied. That is why I am going to be sharing with you some fitness inspiration (to get you up and moving) that you can look back on when you are feeling in a slump. Not that every day needs to be up and running just beginning with a couple times a week and working your way up to your goal so that 2015 will be YOUR year!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I know it was quite short but with the first week back to school time has gone by too fast with assessments, etc. Remember to always look for this post and show your friends/family to kickstart your healthy lifestyle or when you just need some inspiration. Thanks for reading xxx

Dubai | Day 5 + 6!

Hey everyone and Happy New Year! Another chance to start fresh and make 2015 count. Two days ago was of course NYE (New Year's Eve) so after celebrations I hope you can understand that I had no time for a post! However, it was a very relaxing day just hanging at the pool/beach and enjoying the final day of 2014. In the night we had a really lively dinner and enjoyed a firework display on the beach with horns and shakers going crazy. It was such a fun night! How did you spend your New Year's Eve?

Day 6
New Years Day! Phew, this day was exhausting to say the least but one of the best shopping days I've ever had. We spent the entire day at the World's Largest Mall-The Dubai Mall with a short break in between to go up the Tallest Building in the World-Burj Khalifa. Needless to say it was an amazing day full of 'World Records' ;). The Dubai Mall had every shop imaginable and I went big in Victorias Secret PINK stocking up on tons of sweats, hoodies, and shirts for the cold winter ahead. They also don't have any of these shops in Switzerland so it was nice to finally purchase items from stores that I love again. Going up the Burj Khalifa was a great experience and the view was beautiful despite the hazy sky. After a pizza dinner we dragged all the heavy shopping bags back to The Palm and packed up for an early flight in the morning.

Also, I will be filming a haul this weekend of everything that I purchased at the Dubai Mall so hopefully that will be up this Sunday!

Now, we are currently sitting in a lounge at the airport waiting to get home with a 2 hour delay :O Long day of travel and connecting flights ahead! I hope you all enjoyed seeing Dubai through a computer screen and following me on this trip. It was honestly such a great vacation and I am so grateful that my family and I were able to go on such an extravagant trip.

Stay tuned this Sunday for another post-back to one time a week posting once the school year begins; however, if I have extra time in my busy week I will be trying to post twice once-in-a-while. Thank you for viewing and don't forget to follow xxx
